To provide an effective infrastructure to support implementation of the 14-19 Strategy.

In order to implement the North Yorkshire 14-19 Strategy and support recommendations for specific actions in the StAR Review the Harrogate 14-19 Curriculum Task Group is seeking to:

  • Deliver a 14-19 planning day, run in Harrogate to include all learning providers – schools, community education, colleges, private wbl providers and Connexions representatives
  • Coordinate 14-19 providers in order to plan for widening access to NVQ based courses at Post 16 and NVQ level 3 modules, 16-18, and access to Higher Education
  • Support clusters of schools (initial support for North Harrogate cluster in planning a more coherent 16-19 coordinated provision.)
  • Support the local 14-19 implementation group in considering examples of good practice in e-learning, mentoring, WRL and use of new technologies to support teaching & learning
  • Develop provision of enterprise education for those employed in trade skills
  • Extend alternative learning opportunities for those at risk of exclusion
  • Target support for those not in employment or training, to re-engage them in learning, leading to reduction in NEET figures
  • Take action to reduce drop out rates at 17
  • Ensure the provision of impartial information and advice about the full range of opportunities in a variety of settings.
